Grief Massage for Parents
Coping with Pregnancy & Infant Loss
Provided through Massage is Life, LLC
This service is specifically designed for parents navigating the grief, depression, anxiety, and trauma caused by pregnancy and infant loss. It is a deeply personal offering for me, as I, too, continue to cope with my own loss. This was a service I started a couple of years after my loss. I knew I wanted to help, and I knew that my very career would be the starting point—eventually leading me to do more and start my nonprofit, Jordyn’s Light Inc. Supporting other parents on this journey not only helps them but also helps me heal. I understand how isolating this experience can feel—like no one truly understands—but I do. Being a vessel to support others through my gift reminds me that my loss was not in vain.

For those of you who may not know, I am Angela Jessie, the founder of Jordyn’s Light Inc., a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist, and the owner of Massage is Life, LLC and Inclusion Wellness WNY – Mobile Services for People with Different Abilities. My background in massage therapy, combined with my personal experience with grief, allows me to provide a compassionate and intentional service to parents coping with pregnancy and infant loss.

What Makes This Session Different
What makes this session different is the intention behind it—when you book this service, I recognize that you are carrying a weight that words often cannot express. This is not just a massage appointment; it is an opportunity for you to step into a safe, supportive space where you can allow yourself to just be.

Grief is heavy, unpredictable, and deeply personal. It can feel isolating, like no one truly understands the depth of your pain. In this space, you don’t have to explain, justify, or hold it all together. Here, you are free to release—whether that means shedding tears, sitting in silence, or simply allowing your body to relax for the first time in a long time.

You are not just booking a massage; you are seeking a sanctuary—a place where your grief is acknowledged, where your emotions are honored, and where your body and mind are given permission to rest. Every stroke, every intentional touch is meant to offer comfort, support, and relief—not just physically, but emotionally as well.

Massage Approach & Techniques
From a technique perspective, grief massage is not much different from a traditional Swedish relaxation massage. The strokes are slow, soothing, and rhythmic, designed to calm the nervous system and release physical tension. However, the key difference lies in the intentionality and presence behind each movement. This session is not about fixing or correcting anything—it is about holding space for whatever emotions arise.

Breathwork is also an important element of this session. Guided deep breathing is incorporated to help regulate the nervous system, promote relaxation, and create a sense of grounding. Grief often causes the body to feel tight, constricted, and disconnected, and conscious breathing allows for gentle release, helping to ease both emotional and physical holding patterns.

The session is structured to provide emotional support and may incorporate elements such as aromatherapy, soothing music, and a calming ambiance to facilitate healing. It seeks to address both the physical and emotional toll of grief, promoting relaxation and reducing stress. This massage offers parents a space to grieve, find comfort, and honor their emotional journey.

Based on my own personal experience, I know that parents often carry their grief silently, unable to fully express their emotions due to work, responsibilities, or the discomfort of others. As a result, we internalize our pain, which can lead to physical tension, exhaustion, or illness. Massage therapy provides an excellent way to release the trauma and tension stored in the body due to grief. Emotional releases during a session, whether through tears or simply letting go, are natural and incredibly healthy.

As a professional massage therapist, I always maintain proper boundaries and never exceed my scope of practice. However, my goal is to create a safe, supportive environment for every parent who comes through my doors. I hold space, offering a non-judgmental atmosphere where you can be yourself, express your feelings, and be vulnerable without fear of criticism. Whether you need to cry, talk, or simply sit in silence, I encourage you to honor your emotional state.

My mission is to provide an additional resource on your healing journey—a space where you feel seen, heard, supported, and cared for as a parent navigating loss.

Grief Massage Appointments Returning in June 2025
Starting June 2025, I will begin offering grief massage appointments again. This service is deeply personal to me, and I am grateful to be able to continue providing a safe and supportive space for parents coping with pregnancy and infant loss.

I am currently transitioning Massage is Life, LLC from full-time to only seeing my monthly regular clients after May 2025. Unfortunately, since the pandemic, business has never returned to the thriving practice it once was. However, by continuing to see my monthly regulars, I can cover the expenses of my office space, allowing me to keep my nonprofit, Jordyn’s Light Inc., running.
This transition will also allow me to dedicate more time to my nonprofit while still maintaining a space to offer grief massages and operate Inclusion Wellness WNY, where I provide mobile massage services for infants, children, and adults with different abilities.

My Vision for the Future of Grief Massage
Eventually, once funding starts coming into the nonprofit, I would love to offer these grief massage services for free or at a discounted rate. While Jordyn’s Light has received some donations, much of it has been funded out of pocket. My massage business is my livelihood, and if I could provide these services for free right now, I absolutely would. However, as a massage therapist, there are only so many hands-on hours I can physically work, and as the sole provider, I also have to be able to cover both my home and business expenses.

For those who would like to support this effort, there is a specific fund on our website where people can donate to directly support grief massage sessions for parents in need. However, Jordyn’s Light is still growing—it was only officially established in May 2024—and unfortunately, because pregnancy and infant loss is not a mainstream cause and still carries so much stigma, funding has not been easy to secure. It is a topic that isn’t talked about enough, and because of that, resources like this struggle to get the support they deserve.

But I’m going to keep pushing—for the parents who need it, for the families who feel unseen, and for the mission behind Jordyn’s Light.

Thank you for your understanding, support, and belief in what I do.
